How to Create a Rate Structure
A Rate Structure defines how much an account is charged for a service , it's assigned at the location/service level.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- Access to the Settings > Rate Structures
- A clear idea of what the rate is for (e.g., a special rate for non-paying members, a standard tier structure, etc.) and why, since you'll document this in the description
- The rate value(s) you want to charge
Step 1: Create the Rate Structure
- Click the gear icon to open Settings.
- Click Rate Structures.
- Click New Rate.
- Type the name of the rate code.
- Add a description explaining what the rate is for and why (this matters for anyone reviewing billing later , e.g., "Free water for city employees").
- Click Save.


You'll be redirected to the Rate Structure Detail page.
Step 2: Set the Rate Value
- From the Rate Structure Detail page, click +Rate to add a new rate.
- Verify the label, rate type, rate, if starting unit ,ending unit, if taxes need to be applied and the subtype is all included and correct.
- Double-click the rate value field to edit the rate later on.
- Enter the amount (e.g.,
0for a free/no-charge rate, or your standard rate amount). - Click Save.

Step 3: Assign the Rate Structure to an Account/ Location
Once the rate structure exists, apply it to the account/location it should affect:
- Go to the Accounts tab.
- Search for the account using the search bar.
- Open the account by double-clicking the row or clicking the arrow icon.
- Or Open the Location record from the side panel.
- Click Services.
- Select + New Services
- Select your new rate structure from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
