More Common Tasks

These tasks come up regularly once you're settled in. Each section has a short video.

Adding a New Service Location

You can create a service location with only what you know today. Save the record, then come back later to add meter, contact, or billing details as you get them.

Changing How a Location Is Billed

To change how one location is billed, open its location detail page and edit the Service tied to it, including its rate code.

Be careful with rate structures. A rate structure defines how a service is billed overall. Changing it affects every location that uses it, not just the one you're viewing. To change one location's charges, change the rate code on its service instead.

Managing Account Deposits

Record a deposit as a charge, which adds to the account balance. Record a deposit return as a credit, which reduces it. Using the right type keeps the balance and history accurate.

If a deposit return leaves the account overpaid, add a Refund transaction to show the money was returned to the customer.

Checklist

  • Create a service location with partial information and finish it later.
  • Change the rate code on one location's service, and know when a rate structure change affects others.
  • Record a deposit, a deposit return, and a refund for an overpayment.
